Our Beginning
Since 2001, The Love Ones of God Family Care Centre has been a place of hope for people who
had nowhere else to turn.
Founded on 25 September 2001 by Mr. Desmond Venter, our organisation began with a simple but powerful purpose — to give shelter, care, dignity, and hope to vulnerable people facing some of the darkest moments of their lives.
What started in Brakpan as a response to homelessness has grown into a lifelong mission of caring for vulnerable individuals and families from across South Africa.
A Place of Hope
For over two decades, we have opened our doors and our hearts to pensioners, disability pensioners, homeless individuals, unemployed men and women, abandoned people, struggling families, and children in desperate need of safety and care.
Although our facility is based in Brakpan, the people who come to us have travelled from towns and cities across the country — often with nothing left but the hope that someone will help them.
For many who arrive at our gates, we are their last hope.
Built on faith, hope, love, peace, and grace, our centre has grown into a fully operational registered NPO and care facility, now providing daily support to approximately 160 vulnerable people, including children and families.
What We Provide
We provide more than a roof over someone’s head.
We provide safe shelter away from the dangers of the streets, daily meals, clothing, care, and basic necessities that many people go without.
Every child in our care deserves safety, stability, and the chance to dream beyond their circumstances. That is why we help transport our children safely to and from school each day.
Our elderly residents and pensioners are also assisted with transport to hospitals, clinics, and SASSA offices, helping them access the care and support they need.
Every day, we work to restore dignity, bring stability, and create a safe environment where vulnerable people can begin rebuilding their lives.
Extending Hope Beyond Our Walls
Over the years, we have worked alongside SAPS, welfare organisations, correctional services, and members of the community who refer vulnerable individuals and families to our centre for help.
Our care also extends beyond our own facility. Whenever possible, we support vulnerable communities, children, and families in need with food, clothing, toys, and other essential items.
Through the generosity of donors and supporters, we are able to reach further, help more people, and bring hope to places where it is needed most.
Why Your Support Matters
Caring for those who can no longer care for themselves has become our life’s work.
But we cannot do it alone.
Every meal served, every child protected, every elderly person cared for, every family sheltered, and every life restored is possible because someone chose to care.
Your support does not simply keep our doors open.
It helps keep people safe.
It helps feed the hungry.
It helps protect children.
It helps restore dignity.
It helps give someone a reason to believe tomorrow can be better.
Together, we can continue bringing hope to those who need it most.
“For many, The Love Ones of God is not just a shelter — it is their second chance at life.”
